This site is visually well screened and benefits from a sloping topography which allows dramatic views across the surrounding countryside. The slopes have been instrumental in the design of this modern split level cottage. The passive solar gain has once again been a driving force in the orientation of the dwelling along a north south access.
The elevations on approach to the dwelling have been designed as a simple modern cottage, yet it is to the rear that the real modern ‘heart’ of the house is delivered. Too often houses in the countryside are designed with little regard to their; location, siting or design. We have designed this dwelling on a skewed footprint so the client has a private south facing courtyard and garden spaces to capture the southerly aspects.
