This project involved a modern extension to a landmark building in the heart of Dunmurry. The ridge height of our clients’ building and mass of the adjoining property gave us scope for innovation. We were pleased with the planning permission given the limited confines of the space yet we were able, through design, to double the square footage of the existing building and allow the current functions’ capacity to expand.
The key to the design was to respect the existing building. We did this with a flat roof extension below the existing eaves level, which allowed us to introduce the more modern 3 storey design. The buildings were tied together visually by matching materials and colours to integrate the old with the new. This extension is currently under construction.
